Amazing things and things to come

Amazing thing #1

A few weeks ago Minka over at More than Running jumped on the Shiner Beer Run bandwagon with me and I couldn’t be more ecstatic. Especially because in her excitement she put together a training plan and decided to share it with me. There are many things I love about this plan like:

  1. I did not have to come up with this plan. I simply have to print it out, tape it to my fridge, and follow it.
  2. You only run 3 times a week. I love running, but I don’t love injuries and over the course of the last year I have learned that my body just doesn’t accommodate the impact the way it used too.
  3. She’s offered to be my long run running partner. Long runs go by so much faster when you can chat it up with a friend.
  4. It’s  12 week training plan with 5 weeks of pre-training. This right here is  hands down my favorite part.

Pre-training is scheduled to kick off on 8/3. So what’s this girl to do with a little more than a month? Pre-train for my pre-training of course.

Amazing thing #2

And so it has begun. Loosely scheduled and extremely forgiving I have begun the process of introducing myself to a regular work-out routine once again. For the last two weeks it’s gone down a bit like this:

Monday – 2-3 mile run with 30 minute core class

Tuesday – No limits circuit class

Wednesday – 2-3 mile run

Thursday – Rest

Friday – Yoga

Saturday – 4-5 mile run

Sunday – Cardio of choice (run/cycle/swim)

trail run

I don’t plan to change much this week either, except I might be a little more loose and forgiving over the weekend because I’ll be at the coast for a much needed mini-vacay. Woot woot!

Amazing thing #3 and amazing things to come

Let’s shift over and chat about this for a moment though…

If you missed this post, I have signed up with the SoleMate charity running program that supports Girls on the Run. My goal is to raise $500.00 before the Shiner Beer Half Marathon in November and I need your help. Any little bit of change you can drop into this bucket will be much appreciated and a definite encouragement to my training. If you don’t already know me and my love for  Girls on the Run you can read more about it here, here, and here.

Because I love GOTR so much and I love you all so much I am offering up a SA-WEEEEET challenge!! For the first person to make a donation to my campaign, I’ll hook you up with a Girls On the Run t-shirt of your very own. Just click the picture above and it will link directly to the page you see. Click the donate now button and just like that you’ve done something amazing!

Happy National Running Day 2014!

i run because 2014

So many things occupy my mind when I am out for a run, but one in particular is reoccurring without fail. Every single time I am out, whether it’s a casual week night run with a friend or a scheduled race, I always find myself being thankful for legs that carry me and he mindset that encourages me to get up and get out. There are so many reasons why I run, but this year on National Running Day I plan to celebrate by running for those who simply can’t.

Why do you run? How will you be celebrating this National Running Day?
